    Democrats must reorganize

I still think that Kerry did an appreciable job in his run for the High Office of the US of A. It was just too little too late.

There is plenty for the Democrats to reevaluate in the next big one. I think that two things that would be helpful would be:

    1) Quit rolling over everytime the Repubs start a major offensive

    2) Massive campaign for Jesus as a write-in candidate. This will take care of the one or two-issue voters. With the right people and the right placing this could have an enormous effect on the "Dixie Republicans". What God-Fearin' Christian wouldn't write in Jesus Christ for President? C'mon, it's a no-brainer for the no-brainers. Think of the campaign slogans: "I've got a Passion for Christ as President!" Perhaps Jimmy Swaggert could be his running mate.

God is good, God is great, Jesus Christ in 2008!

It really is disappointing that the left leaning members of this board grasp onto the Democrat talking heads and blame Christians for Bush's victory. Please try to think for yourselves.
Do you think it possible that Bush could have won because of:

More confidence in him to fight the war on terror
Backlash at the Major media for their Blatant anti-Bush coverage, ie National Guard papers, all the coverage of the Bush "gothcha" books etc.
    People actually want lower taxes
They feel they could trust Bush more
    More Hispanics voted for Bush
increased % of married women/women with children voted for Bush
dislike of Michael Moore's tripe, or
    moveon.org
    etc, etc
    ?

I'm sure it's easier to blame the Christians for your defeat rather than think that the Dem party is on the wrong path for the majority of the citizens of this country.
IMO, I think the Dem party got its message out loud and clear, so keep it up and the democrats will continue to loose influence.

First off, I think the original post was a humor piece, but if you check out this, and scroll down to the most important issue section you'll see that the largest issue was moral values. Now in this country we associate religion, the south, and sexuality with moral values ( as if those city folk can be religious, or have morals), and the media and pundits believe that this was the deciding factor in the election. That the 'Christian Right' moblized and got a huge voter turnout turned the tide of the election.

Now, Karl Rove points out that terrorism and Iraq are two closely related issues, and if you combine those two, it's by far the largest issue. Something I tend to agree with.

That said, if you believe that Bush was going lower your (as opposed to the wealthy elite) taxes, have more confidence with Bush in the war on terror, and trust him more in general, then the Dems definitely did not get their point across. That's how they organized their campaign. Trying to show that Bushes tax cuts affected only the rich, he was wrong on Iraq and the war on terror, and you can't trust him since he's just going to get us into more trouble in Iraq.

All disgrunted democrats should vote libertarian. I think thats enough of a drastic change in policy that it would work. :-D

But, if I may even flatter myself, that they may be productive of some partial benefit, some occasional good; that they may now and then recur to moderate the fury of party spirit, to warn against the mischiefs of foreign intrigue, to guard against the impostures of pretended patriotism; this hope will be a full recompense for the solicitude for your welfare, by which they have been dictated." - George Washington

I think the 'crats need a candidate who can speak well, and communicate with the people. They've been having trouble with that....

    Kerry
    Gore
    Mondale
    Dukakis

Very few people actually liked these 4 on a personal level, and that's why we're losing. We need a better candidate.

    Not Howard Dean.

Call me stupid, but I think the dems should try to run kerry again. Its not that people didnt like him, its that people liked bush just a teency bit more. For the GOP, I'd like to see McCain running.

Amen. I was in Chicago for Remenyik, and amazed at the number of cars I saw with a Bush/Cheney bumper sticker right alongside an Obama sticker.

He's quite the orator. Any Illinoisians here who can speak with more authority on what he's done in state politics?

I'm worried we'll nominate Hilary Clinton in '08, as another soulless politician. I would *really* like to see Robert Reich running. That man is a genius (and thus he won't run/win). As a registerd Democrat, I want us to run a candidate who stands for something. I don't want to win, I want to have a coherent platform that isn't RepublicanLite.

I don't think that the world is ready for President Hillary Clinton. She's intelligent, well-spoken but tends to irritate a lot of people with her demeanor.

Barack Obama, on the other hand does seem to possess an enormous amount of sparkle. We'll have to wait to see if he shows the leadership qualities. Of course, it might be a bit optimistic to believe that the majority of Americans are ready to get past skin color. I don't think that it's likely. As far as minorities banding together to back a minority candidate, that's not likely to happen either... I still find it amazing that this is an issue, of course I still find it amazing that people are so hung up on other people's sexuality. Sorry, but I think it's time to go on the offense about the ignorance that is propagating across America. I've always known that America is not perfect, no country is, but I've always held the belief that we were moving forwards. That's one of the reasons that I'm a disappointed in the outcome. Yes the Dems lost, but they lost to a candidate who ran on a platform of misinformation and ultra-conservatism. I don't like fanatics from either side, to have one holding the highest office in the U.S. is disconcerting to say the least.
