Array ranking question How does one go about moving up in the USFA ranks? I realize you must compete first off! I attended my first tourney yesterday and one of the tourney directors was talking about how the competition was a C something or rather so like the 1st placer got his C? One of the dudes from my team placed 3rd so he got his D, I remember that. What about the second place dude? What about everyone else? -

Array Go to http://www.usfencing.org/Documents/R...sMan/Class.asp
That table explains the rules for classification of an event. -

Array Peach - thanks a BUNDLE! The site was a big help. I think I can feel the cobwebs in my brain clearing though only slightly! -

Array If you get it too cleared up, you won't fit in - - I was at a tournament where the (experienced) organizers told someone she had earned a C when there were only 11 fencers <sigh>. -

Well, that's why we always have the classification chart at the bout table in SoCal. If the BC doesn't know the cutoff numbers for group levels, they need to work on their knowledge of the event set-ups. -

What has the world come to when the people who "know" don't know! -

Array I get not knowing the obscure things such as what exactly is required to make a B4 competition. I don't get how people don't know all of the E1, D1, C1, B1, and A1 requirements. There just aren't that many, and with the exception of C1 which has 2 methods, they're all basically the same with just higher previous rating requirements. Okay, and E1, that's different too.
I understand that LOTS of (experienced) people DON'T have this memorized and DO rely on the charts, but.... it's just NOT that hard.
