Array I chose epee becuse foil was boreing and sabre was to aggressive for me,(don't get me wrong,I love to be aggresive when the time calls for it) but epee seemed the most realistick and the weapon were I could do really well.
As to my fencing style, I have a Korean coach, but I went to Ohio State University's fencing camp over the summer, and I loved there style (very Russian) and there whole mind set that its your bout to win, not your opponets, and there whole style of attack. But I do like my Korean coachs' parrys, reposts, attacks in preparation, and defensive principales. So right now I'm trying to find a happy medium.

MR Why sabre? Because you don't take heads with the point. -

Array Originally I was an epeeist. 6'3", 165 at the time, my reaction to a threat was to cringe away and stick out my arm to make it go away. Patient and thoughtful. Very much psychologically and physically built for epee.
4 1/2 years later I was part of a college team. After the collegiate season ended there were 1-2 weeks where the only people to show up were myself (top epeeist), the top foilist, and most of the sabre squad. So I fenced sabre. And discovered that I really liked it. And was fairly good at it.
Gradually shifted over the next season and a half to being primarily sabre. Mostly shifted away from epee for a while, have now started fencing it again, while definitely being a sabre fencer.
Still have the psychological and physical make-up of an epee fencer, but I enjoy sabre more and I'm better at it.
I do foil for fun, to give me extra events on some days, and because I enjoy being good at a tertiary weapon. I rarely train at foil, and when I do it's generally collaborative training designed to help my partner, who is a foilist, at least as much.

Array i chose foil cause I think it has the most variety , sabre and epee are usually fenced at a certain speed but foil can be fenced very slowly or fast depending on the fencers style. Also i tried epee and sabre once and i just didnt like them at all... I would hate fencing and quit if there was no foil (prays FIE doesnt change target area off target lights , etc.) Similar Threads -
