Array What a day! GOD am I wasted! We held an unrated epee, a "C" foil and a "D" sabre today in SoCal...and I did 'em all! I ended up 8th out of 37 in the epee (I think I won more epee bouts today than I did in all of last year), got knocked out in the round of 32 in the foil, but ended up 5th in the sabre. I missed earning/renewing my epee and sabre classifications by one bout each! I don't think I stopped fencing for 10 hours!
'Course, the most satisfying moment was coming ff my foil DE loss and immediately changing lames to doo 4 of my 5 sabre pool bouts in a row...and I ended up undefeated in pool!
But i am just so tired, I could just Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz............... -

Nnnnaaaaahh...just being too damned dumb to quit! Actually, I don't mind the multiple events, I figure it keeps my old legs warm (that's my story, and I'm sticking to it!)
'Course, I also made a sale while I was there, so the day was profitable in more than one way! -
You remind me the good old days, me and my fencing club went on a road trip to a tournament, drinks and pizza, even hot tub
I love 3 weapon tournament, just wondering, are there anyone still do all 3 weapon any more? When the owner or my fencing club asked me what weapon I fence, I told him all 3, I got that "are you crazy?" look -

Actually, there are quite a few 3-weapon folks in existence. It's only bloody fools -- er -- hardy souls like me who do all three in one day! -

Array Lol then I'm a fool as well. A couple weekends back I fenced all three weapons, starting at 9am and ending around 7 or 8pm.
Tho i think my three weapon days are drawing to a close and I'm going to focus on Saber, Im just better at it

Array Wish I coulda seen that, doing all three in one day! I've seen two but three...ya must have SOME endurance factor going on there Congrats on the 8th I think I would have passed out way before the middle of the event! -

Array Sam, there are only two weapons ( sabre and epee ) and a toy ( foil ). Ergo, there are no 3-weapon fencers. Use the Shift key, people! Keyboard manufacturers everywhere are ineffably saddened when you ignore what they made just for you! -

Hell, I'm surprised I could even WALK afterwards. My right foot always twitches uncontrollably on the gas pedal for a few minutes when I get in the car to go home...I was practically tap dancing after Sunday!
I DID tend to bounce all over the place, although all of my individual weapon events (pool and DE in each weapon) tended to be on the same strip, so I didn't have to do TOO much running around.
Actually, my personal record is 5 events in one day (open in each, a U epee that I lost 1st place to by 1 touch, and a U foil that I won for my first weapon classification. Except for the open epee, they were all pretty small...no more than 8 in each event.)
I've often told people that the winner is sometimes the guy who survives the longest, not necessarrily the best fencer. if I hadn't been in the habit of fencing multiple events, I wouldn't have built up the endurance to survive to the round of 32 at Nats...and I'd never broken out of the round of 128 before. Keep in mind that I started in the round of 256. For me, that;s a great accomplishment, particularyl since I have not taken any conditioning training.
