Array It's all over - Kerry concedes race I just heard it on CNN, though it hasn't made the website yet. Kerry called Bush to concede. "In theory, theory and practice are the same, but in practice, theory and practice are different." -

Array Sorry, Jeff, but Inq and others (including my wife) got their way. -

Array Thanks JEC - we can't all get our way, alas.
esskreemr: it's a great country, and I imagine we'll muddle through. Or, so I hope
I think the line is that you get the country you deserve.... "In theory, theory and practice are the same, but in practice, theory and practice are different." -

Array Anyone want to help me arrange a car pool to Canada? The only way to atone for being occasionally a little over-dressed is by being always absolutely over-educated. -Oscar Wilde -

Unconfirmed
Array re "fiasco" of 2000: Our election results would lose their legitimacy if the process didn't allow for challenges and a thorough exploration. It might have seemed chaotic and unnecessary then -- and this year, in Ohio and other states -- but definitely not a "fiasco." -

Heeheeheeheeheeheehee...
I think I'm going insane.
No, nevermind that.
I AM going insane!
It's that perfect combination of joy at Kerry's concession, another four years of Bush, being done with classes for the morning, sleep deprivation from last night, and a major caffeine high induced by this morning's GI Jolt - a marvelous local concoction which includes a triple-shot of latte. My hands are vibrating on the keyboard and I was literally bouncing on the way back from class!
Whee! Bring on the men in white with their funny-looking little coats! -

This is true. Europe seems much better... The only way to atone for being occasionally a little over-dressed is by being always absolutely over-educated. -Oscar Wilde -

Susan Serandon(sp) as well as many other actors made this same stupid comment during the 2000 election. Did any of them renounce and leave? I bet not. It's a dumb thing to say. Should you walk on the road less traveled, watch your step. -

Haha, they´re coming to take me away,
Ho ho, hee hee, ha ha,
To the funny farm
Where Life is Beautiful all the time
And I´ll be happy to see
Those Nice Young Men
In their Clean White Coats
And they´re coming to take me AWAY,
HA HAAAA -

Of course they didn't go anywhere. They are democrats. A bunch of talkers. The only time they do what they say is when they say they will tax the hell out of us.
Anyone who wants to go to Canada? I dare you. -

Array Liberal RANT Well, looking at all the red states in the middle of the country, I once again take up the bullhorn and preach cessession for the United New England States (shown in blue on your electoral maps). I guess I'll have to start diggin' that bomb shelter in the back yard and putting the money (what little is left to us after taxes) into the mattress before Dick Cheney comes to take away my civil rights, clean air and water.
Can we revoke federal funding from Midwest universities who obviously are not educating the people in their respective states? Perhaps it can be an amendment to the No Child Left Behind Act?
OK. I'll go back to rocking and humming in the corner now.... I'm a lumberjack and I'm O.K. I sleep all night and I work all day. -

Hehehe....talkers are right. Thank GOD I won't get taxed additionally. Good lord, Kerry thinks me/hubby are in the "rich" bracket. Yeah, OK. The way we're already being taxed is just mind-boggling. Why make more money if the government is just going to suck you dry from your life-draining efforts to earn a living?
BTW, just an aside to all you Bush and Kerry-supporters alike. Where I live and work is VERY pro-Kerry, with lots of venom toward Bush. The air in the office is nasty today...saying stupid people ( ie, southern, "hayseed" states) voted for Bush and "what were they thinking?" If you look at the exit polls, you'll find that "rich" people and whites voted more for Bush than "poor" people and minorities. Education levels seemed to be evenly split between both candidates...so "intelligence" doesn't seem to even play into it. So that knee-jerk rationale seems odd to me.
Also, Dan Rather was trying hard not to be biased for Kerry, but boy was he...and his true colors were showing (the words he used were very telling as to who he wanted to win). At one point, regarding Ohio and possibly Bush claiming it for a win he said, "Don't bet your double wide yet." I looked at my hubby and was like did he just say what I think he said? Ah, yes he did.
I liked watching Tom...he did more straight reporting, which I perfer. Fox News is always entertaining and kind of campy...less stodgy. -
