Array Voting Lines! I wonder what the impact of these long, long lines at the Voting Stations will cause before the end of the day. Was there some sort of strategic plan to limit the access to voting? I don't remember seeing three and four hour lines to vote, but on the television right now you can see lines wrapped around towns. -

Array It was busy, but no delays at my voting place.
I prefer Conga Lines to Voting Lines "In theory, theory and practice are the same, but in practice, theory and practice are different." -

Was it "scratch and sniff" or Die-at-the-Bolt at your voting location? -

Array On the news right now the story is all about the legal challenges and wranglings of both parties to "legitimize" (read: intimidate) the voting. I'm very frustrated that we have come to a point in our democracy that we need to have lawyers, lawsuits, protestors, and observers at our voting stations to ensure that we keep our elections ethical and correct.
What a shame that it's come down to this. -

Array Actually, our country has a long history of outrageous voter fraud, going all the way back to the election of Thomas Jefferson. There are laws against it, and now both sides are seeking to ensure that these laws are enforced.
I have no problem with seeking court orders to stop unlawful practices. You have evidence of voter fraud, by all means take legal action.
I do have a problem with "strike suit" lawsuits filed "just in case," without actually having first gathering sufficient evidence to make out a good-faith claim. That's wrong. -

Actually, there was such a plot. The Republicans in some of the Redneck states (fine, it was Ohio), were taking advantage of an Ohio law that any citizen can challenge any other citizen's right to vote, and lined up to sue black people over their right to vote.
Or something like that.
Luckily, there is sanity in this country, and the law was declared unconstitutional at the last minute. -

Array And 3 million blacks were kept from voting in Fla. in 2000. Benjamin Franklin when asked by a woman, "What kind of government have you given us?" Replied, "A Republic Madam, if you can keep it!"

Array No line at my polling place. Walked right in, walked right out.
Connect two arrows by blacking the space between them with a pen. Then feed the ballot into a machine reader. No problem. -

Array Same optical scanner in OK. moderate line about 25 min to vote. Benjamin Franklin when asked by a woman, "What kind of government have you given us?" Replied, "A Republic Madam, if you can keep it!"

Array In my state, or at least in my precinct, we voted on tablet style Diebold Election Sytems. I was skeptical at the time that the the recordation of an accurate selection would be accomplished, but my state closed the night in blue for Kerry, so I'm complacent in my certainty of a counted vote.
