Goth Fencers You know, I was thinking, there aren't many goths that fence.. well none that I know of.. I was wondering if anyone else noticed that. I guess it is cause of too much white and not enough black.

No goths fence where I do because two full time goth hunters fence there. I dont like goths, but I take pleasure in laughing at their artificial uniqueness. Long story, so I'll shorten in. There is this blacksmith's apprentice that fences at our club. Every halloween, he runs around the neighborhoods with a sword or scythe, dressed in a black cloak, chasing any goths that may be out corning or smoking. I've seen lots of goth fencers around here in the past, seems like they're dropping off a little lately though.

I think she is referring to "kiddie-metallers" or "metal-urchins". Y'know the sort: hangs around on street corners, is very middle class, 'depressed' all the time, listens to rubbish like Linkin Park, dresses badly.
There is a Goth subculture, they are very much obsessed with dance music these days. Having said that one of my friends, a notable in Gothic circles and a highly ranked UK Fencer, tells me that the punkier side of Goth is making a comeback.

I actually know a few, and interest amongst their groups in Oregon, CA, as well as locally seems to be increasing. Granted, I thought the entire idea behind being goth was to look cool, not conform, smoke cigarettes, dress all in black, and do as little as possible while looking depressed and saddened because your favorite band told you so, and Hot Topic had your new jacket on sale, so you could be and individual and look just like all of the others for 30% off of the store markup of 50%. Still, at least they like playing with swords.
Actually, I was hoping next halloween to find some random 'Goth Club' and go with a few friends dressed as Visigoths, complete with swords, helmets, wineskins, and beards... just to see if any of them would get the joke. "The greatest thing you'll ever learn
