    Adidas fencing equipment

Hi everyone, do you have any opinions on adidas fencing shoes/ jacket and breeches? I've been looking at them and I think I would like some, but I don't know if I could convince my parents to buy them , or if they are really any good. So please tell me your experiences and what you think.

P.S. For one thing, they look good, but looks aren't everything (almost ).
"I think this point is best point you will ever see... ahh look, I'm so good aren't I? Oh and here referee was wrong, opponent made attack first and I counterattacked but referee gave point to me, but that's life I guess. Ho ho ho..."
    (I wonder who

Use the seach option of this forum under ADIDAS and you'll have just about all we have had to say about that. But if you're too lazy, mmy opinion is that the Adidas uniform just isn't worth the money considering that most people who owns one says that the stripes wash off easiliy, or can be maintained with extremely delicate wahsing. The Adidas shoe's are a preference thing. The asymmetrics are pricey (actually most fencing shoes are pricey) but they do fit me comfortable despite causing some people to have ankle and/or knee problems. The Artagnan I (haven't tried the II) are very nice and soft, softer than the Asymm's but in my opinion, less stable. Hope you find your answers!

The adidas uniform is the same uniform as the Uhlmann/Allstar top of the line uniform with the addition of stripes and price.

The shoes are generally the best fencing shoes available, though it's still a personally preference thing. If you can try some on (from a vendor or a friend).

Quote me - I am a parent and have bought Adidas fencing shoes for my boys (just the younger one more recently) - they are good.

The Addias uniform is a waste of $ unless you really like paying to be a billboard. As mentioned above it's an Allstar/Uhlmann uniform with stripes that fade.

Many top competitors love the shoes, but I know a bunch, myself included who never wear 'em.

My advice, focus on your fencing performance, and don't worry about the fashion.

I thought you would enjoy this photo.

Alfredo Rota (ITA) vs. Soren Thompson (USA)

Rota is the no.1 seed and Thomposn finished 7th losing to legend Pavel Kolobkov. Neither is wearing Adidas shoes, and Thompson was given the uniform.

But Rota at least is wearing fencing shoes, the new Victoria I think, although I have not played with the new ones myself yet. I think the Adidas Uniform is a waste of money. It is the Uhlman Olympia line of fencing clothing, just marked up for a ridiculous price. If you are someone who thinks paying more for the same thing makes it better, the Adidas uniform may be for you. Instead I suggest the top sheld Leon Paul uniform. It also costs a fortune, but at least it has the best fit, finish and attention to detail in the industry that I have ever seen.

I do like the Adidas fencing shoes, but I have never paid more than $40 dollars for a pair. I am a bit of a bargain shopper when it comes to shoes and usually wait until the next "new thing" is out before I replace my old shoes with what was the latest craze in fencing shoes last olympics! In my experiance the Adidas shoes are very well made and do their job very well, but a lot of the "are they worth the money" questions depends on many things including your style of fencing, you level of fencing, what type of surface you normally train on and so forth. I have a year old plus pair of Adistar hightops I use or teaching and training and a pair of Atlantas that I use for competitions and taking lesson only.

Short version, the Adidas uniform is a waste of money. They don't make uniforms after all. Their shoes however are very good, but are certainly not a bargain. They do however know how to make some good shoes.

I'd wear 'em too if they were given to me. Viktoria sponsors him.
