    "the Lancet" article

I just found this article... interesting.
Mortality before and after the 2003 invasion of Iraq

... and now, I'm really wondering if it was worth it.

if you don't want to read the whole article...

Here is the conclusion of the study:

"Making conservative assumptions, we think that about 100000 excess deaths, or more have happened since the 2003 invasion of Iraq. Violence accounted for most of the excess deaths and air strikes from coalition forces accounted for most violent deaths. We have shown that collection of public-health information is possible even during periods of extreme violence. Our results need further verification and should lead to changes to reduce non-combatant deaths from air strikes. "

    War sure sucks, don't it?

Now tell me how people plan to further reduce these "non-combatant" deaths from airstrikes, especially considering the level of precision bombing already employed.

Estimates go as high as 300,000 deaths among non-combatants.

    Keith,

I'm sure you know from watching the Athens 2004 TV coverage that the 9 horizontal bars in the Greek flag represent, in Greece, the nine words that says, "Freedom or death."

i'm sure that when the death toll of the non-combatants - or as the miltary calls it "corollary" deaths - is so high, that the majority of these people, especially the children, do not subscribe to the "Freedom or Death" philosophy.

That's your comment? War sucks? I tell you that almost 100,000 people (civilian) died during this really controversial war and you say war sucks?????? You don't wonder at all if it was worth it????? Do you really think the situation is better now? Do you really think that America is safer with these 100,000 dead Irakies' relatives who are some potential terrorists?
