| Wow what a terrible page.
Scroll to the bottom on the left frame, click "page 2" with "cut" as one of the subsections and watch the animation that I guess supposedly shows how to cut.
Wow..

| Well, this probably isn't what you're looking for, but there's a coach in Cleveland who will do a video critique of your fencing. I've never done it, nor do I know the coach... http://www.alcazarfencing.com/video_coaching.html

| Why on EARTH would you want online fencing lessons? I second that this is the stupidest idea ever.

| I question how much one can learn on line...no matter how comprehensive it is, a webpage cannot put you through a drill and tell you when something isn't being done correctly....like if your guard drifts inside in foil or sabre.
You can get information....but find a real person to teach you. |

| Wow, great links.
There's no way they can replace a real lesson, though. But they provide some insight on coaching and training strategies, and higher-level tactics. |

| They can't replace real lessons, but if you study them it will surely help. |

This very forum is an example of fencers learning, online, from other fencers. It is quite plausible that one might take it a step further.
We already have the tech to set up real time video/audio links to coaches in a other cities, or even countries.
We can send quicktimes or Mpegs of our bouts, link up in real time.. whatever and have an expert give some insight ... from thousands of miles away.Heck, I'm paying for this broaband, might as well use it.. why not?
Cheers

| Well my current problem is the coaching..not many know epee, and I'll eventually have to go out of club to get lessons. So online..the descriptions/diagrams def. help..when describing parries, terms, different techniques..as long as you have a means of enabling that training by living it and practicing it..then you should use it. Anyone saying it's stupid is simply ignorant in the means of it being applied. |

| geez You're all pretty sensitive and ready to cast negative names, huh?
Not really "lessons" but you know, like guides and things? I own several
fencing books, and I'd like to see some movies showing proper fencing
motions, online guides, things like that.
Thanks for the link.
Everyone chill.

Ever heard of Steve Trevor, Jon Normile, Ben Solomon (to name a few)?

-FM | FM,
If you're interested in watching a lesson given to students with outstanding form, I'd suggest the Tyschler cd's or dvd's. I don't get too much out of the dialogue, but watching the lesson is very instructive.

| web-based or CD based media is a great supplement to training, and I would recommend it to even those of us who have been fecning for a while. If these types of media weren't valuable, then those DVD's that people buy shouldn't be of much value either, but that doesn't stop us from trying those techniques we learn from thoses DVD's.
