Ironically, home turf or not, I won't be there. Off to go coach at some other little thing in Kentucky that weekend.

its a big tournament with a wide experience spread. there will be people who are new, just like you. there will also be people who are quite good, have national points, etc etc. you'll get some good experience from it and will have fun, but don't get discouraged from it.

Temple was my first tournament ever. Came in second to last. It was awesome :P

You go, you have fun. You enjoy the opportunity to experience colliegiate fencing. You fence like you've been training to do, and that's really about it.

Any tips for us visitor types who wanna snag a rockin' cheese-steak?

Definitely! Pat's Steaks, ninth and Pasayunk. On Campus, any of the trucks, you'll get a half decent steak. But Pat's, even Gino's (which is RIGHT across the bloody street from Pat's!) and Jim's (on South Street)..they are Philly steaks. Thick, fatty meat (you know, the stuff with flavor), cheese whiz (don't knock it till you try it!), real bread, fried onions...dear god..I will NEVER be a decent fencer in this town..haha

The NYU team is organizing itself to go. The school isn't officially sponoring us to go to the Temple open for some reason, but alot of us are still up for it. I know I'l be there.

Nice. Will the sabre fencers from NYU go?
Andrew, you should convince Ben Igo to go - I've never fenced him. Unless you're Ben Igoe, in which case I've never fenced you

Faulty logic at work: You've never fenced ben, and I've never fenced you, so therefore I must be ben.

I'd convince him to go but the registration date has passed (i think... or maybe there's just a hefty late fee now). Anyway it's not a team sponsored event so most (i mean all) of the other people on the team don't want to have to get themselves there. We'll all be at Penn State the next weekend though, you might just get your chance to fence him there.
