Array Bush vs Kerry The Ultimate Duel In a series of bouts covering all 3 weapons, with no prior training, who would win - Bush or Kerry? (And yes, im talking modern fencing not the duel do the death stuff) -

Array Sabre - Bush
Epee - Kerry
Foil - They both impale themselves, and Badnarik being the referee laughs at their corpses as he becomes president. -

Array explain your reasoning! This could be interesting as the day progresses -
kerry, all three
why?
kerry fenced sabre at yale and that gives him an edge, esp with the ROW weapons. -

Array well, there goes this thread. -

Array well, the question presumes no prior training, so for the sake of argument let's say neither one has held a fencing weapon in his life.
Bush is shorter and can no longer jog due to knee injury. So he's not likely to do as well in epee. Give epee to Kerry.
Kerry takes things personally and blames his snowboarding/windsurfing tumbles on other people. Sounds like a sabre fencer who's arguing every point. In other words, a sabre fencer who's losing. Give sabre to Bush.
Bush is persistent, dogged and straightforward. Kerry is more nuanced and flexible. Give foil to Kerry. -

Array Kerry's slightly atheletic, played hockey, Bush not so much. In fencing I'd take Kerry. -
Kerry is taller, more athletic, and more able to think on his feet. In my opinion.
Thusly, Kerry would win. -

Was that a second intent attack or a split-second parry and riposte? "Since when does being a patriot in America mean shutting your mouth?"

Array Given Bush's inability to put together a 2 minute response to a debate question, I seriously doubt he could put together a fencing phrase. Honestly, Bush will probably win the election and has the better team behind him, but one can disagree with the fact that Kerry thinks much better on his feet. And Kerry looks more athletic to boot, so I'd go Kerry in all three weapons.

Array Kerry scores the initial touch.
Bush pulls a six shooter and ,mmmmm, wins. Whatever doesn't kill you, is gonna leave a scar...

Array So you're saying that Bush will win by cheating? Not a good omen for the upcoming election...

Array People, you all need to understand that fencing is very much a mental sport. Bush is stupid, Kerry is smart. Bush would repeat the same tactic until loosing, Kerry would change tactics until he finds what works. Kerry wins all weapons. I'm so cool; put me in a fridge and it gets colder!
