| For a beginner, in my honest opinion, all they need to know is "Extend your arm" (that's my answer to the topic btw) They can learn how to lose and re-re-re-etc. gain/lose ROW as they go on, but an to an immediate beginner, my answer is sufficient IMO. |

| I saw someone duck a lunge, and instantly extend his arm to grab a touch. He was called against, but I thought they should have awarded him with the point because he had effectively dealt with the attack. |

Attack-no, counter-attack- yes, THEN remise. void/displacement/distance parries are all valid forms of parry.
