| Have fun! Hit someone. Learn something. Always remember your first tournament.

| Hit them before they hit you, with right of way, and you'll be all set. |

| Welcome! Funny I was just watching Forrest Gump and wondering about the fencing in Louisiana. In your 7-months I bet you've already learned the importance of distance and if you focus on that you'll be as right as rain..... unless you go into saber in which case, buy an elbow guard.

| The Melee is a long day. One giant pool of 36 fencers (on 5 strips) EVERY point is very important. Indicators decide all placed below first.
It's a really fun event - You must pre register withy Dr. Hamori by Thursday.
See you there!
Cheers! |

| Riposte riposte riposte!!!! As a fellow novice, I am learning that you can beat a lot of folks with a VERY consistent riposte. Inlcuding some folks who are probably better than you are. think out your strategy before each bout, watch your opponents fence and play to their weaknesses. But most importantly, don't rush things. Let them make their mistakes and capitalize on them. A lot of beginners (myself included) get off balance when they attack or over-commit. Take advantage of that and nail them!!! |

| I definitely need to work on my parry/riposte and counter-parry/counter-reposte. However, i place 9 out of 30 or so at my tournament (1st tournament ever), i can't complain. it was a very good day for me. i also met R. Exnicios, you're really cool, did an excellent job of directing, actually i thought the whole tournament was well directed. i would say i thought maybe 3-4 call were bad but out of probably 300+ calls that i had, iwas impressed. tahnks to everyone

| There goes my ego!
The melee went very well. 435 bouts on 6 strips! I think everyone got their money's worth; 29 bouts per fencer! A very long day but fun, fun, fun
Cheers
