    FIE stamps?

    Hi guys,
I just bought an FIE maraging blade from Leon Paul a week ago and it just arrived. I brought and used it at a salle, and the armourer there swears that all FIE blades should have an FIE stamp near the forte...Is this true? Because mine doesn't. So this raised the question of whether they sent me the right blade or not....please hit me with your feedback! Thanks!

It is required to have it stamped... sounds like you got the wrong blade.

Tell them that you got it in the mail all dinged up.

Why would he tell them that, when he could be completely honest and say he got it in the mail and it wasn't what he ordered?

Well, he fenced with it. Technically its a used item.

Technically yes, but Leon Paul in my experience stands behind what they sell. If they make a mistake, which is rare, they make good. Write them and tell the truth.

Agreed. Worse case scenario is they make him keep it (since he used it), but only charge him for a non-FIE blade. But since he paid for an FIE blade, it was their obligation to deliver, and if they don't, they cannot charge him the full price.

Contact them first. They have an e-mail address on their web site or you can e-mail Barry right here.

Again, just get ahold of Barry Paul. Explain what happened and be straight with him. He will make it right. You can PM him from this site (he is a fencing.net member) at: http://www.fencing101.com/vb/member.php?u=2705

I am sure it will get taken care of.

    It's OK! It's OK!

Alrighty everyjuan...Fear no more! (Because I know you all were!)
The FIE stamp has been identified...Just where no one expected! It was up the blade a bit...and it's a severely lightly imprinted stamp...But it's there...You just needed a really bright lamp and a close look to find it! OK I'm happy...Yay!

leon paul FIE marks tend to be the exact same color of their blades. My friend has a leon paul epee and you cant really see the mark unless you really look.

Well...I'm in NY...So I'm kind of near the international shipping post that they send it to from England...So it only took me like 5 or 6 days. I'm sure the farther inland you go, the longer it'll take...But not by much...I think they ship air everywhere so it should get there relatively fast.

    I'll second that.

All of my orders have taken about a week. Of note, some of the items (except blades and masks) you can ship standard post for much less money than air post, which I think is the default.
