| the key is to not do it when you don't need one.
flicks had a distinct advantage because they were a circular attack (i'm pulling in martial arts training/terminology, excuse me) which required a wide, straight parry to deal with. straight attacks, angulated or no, will be more easily parryable than flicks. they're not a good replacement to consider. i do think, though, that they're going to be used a little more often now with the new timings, as people can feint flick, the defender thinking "hey that won't land, lemmie just counter" and turning the flick into an angulated straight attack ("attack from above", anyone?) |
