| For what it's worth I've seen a number of arguments on football threads regarding altitude training and the general consensus seems to be that high humidity areas i.e FL, GA, etc have similar effects on the body as 'high altitude' training in that humidity (water) is taking up a certain volume in the lungs when one breaths reducing the amount of oxygen the lungs can take in, much like a thin atmosphere. Now how much of this is physiologically true? I've no idea. Anyone? |

| Woohoo! a tourney back in my hometown... I may just have to go (that is, if my current rugby schedule will allow it). It's funny, most people don't realize that Reno sits high and pretty at 4700-4900', so I'm never winded when I go to most of the CA tourneys, nor when I go back home to visit...

| Yipee, One we don't have to travel for! I didn't hear about this until I checked the forum, (not a word at the tournament Saturday!) Anyone know the venue? I'll probably fence VET and help on the bout committee or in some other way. Hope to put some names and faces together! |

| Some Denver info... The NAC is being held at the Convention Center, and the host hotel is the Adam's Mark downtown. If you take Amtrak in, the train station will put you in Lodo (lower downtown) and then you can the 16th street mall shuttle up to the hotel. If you fly in, be aware that it's a bit of a trek between the airport and downtown and the shuttle is the best deal (taxis are expensive). |

| March Snows in Denver Just be aware that sometimes it SNOWS in Denver in March. Some fencers (including yours truly) got stuck at the Denver airport for THREE DAYS a couple of years ago just trying to change planes on the way home from the Arlington NAC. Granted the locals called it the worst snow storm of the last 100 years (more than 3 feet of snow fell in one day), but you will have to allow for bad weather.
And on the other hand, I love the idea of going to Denver to fence.

| hotels The Adam's Mark is about 3-4 blocks from the venue.
There are several hotels close to the convention center (this link has a map and hotel contact info): http://www.denver.org/planners/homf.htm |

| The VetME list for Denver is missing a bunch of notables including Varney, Shalaurov, Jobst and Ulanovskiy ...
Out of those on the pre-reg list I'll go with Dragonetti, Moreau, Gerring and Cochrane to make it into the top 8. And maybe that Glover fellow too. |
