| Missing Socks Because I feel like starting a trivial thread:
What do you think happens to the missing socks? (The other half of the pair that always turns up missing.)

| They are sucked into the nether regions of Sock-Land, to which a portal can be found in most dryers. However, I have yet to find a combination of detergents, temperature, drying time and amount of dryer sheets that will allow me to enter and retrieve my lost socks (and a certain amount of change). |

| You forgot the fact that socks occassionally dont like sock-land and come back through the portal.....generally into someone elses washing who has no clue where the aforesaid sock came from.

| I've always thought that socks ocassionally go through a spontaneous shredding and become the source of lint. The amount of lint that I clean out of my drier is equal to the amount of socks that disappear so mass is still conserved.

| So, mrbiggs and Sarah's cat take the socks to sockland and burn them but if you call your cellphone you can find them if they haven't been spontaneously shredded by your car keys? I'm confused...

| I think there's a little furry sock-ivorous animal that nestles somewhere in my tumble dryer, munching upon black socks, It's only ever the black ones that go missing with me. If I buy three pairs the same to minimize the trouble, they never get eaten; only half of an individual pair. I currently have no less than five single black socks in my drawer which are just too different to be worn together comfortably, i.e. a couple are sort of girly-style "suit socks", the synthetic thin kind to be worn with a trouser suit, and have a slight pattern (different). One is much bigger than the others and slightly greyer. One is thicker and shorter, and one is longer and baggier with much narrower band round the top.
Winter is coming, the sockivore is getting fat...

The greater sockivore (sockivorus maximus) is a vicious all-weather beasty. |

| Too right. The sockivore is warm-blooded and thus in winter must consume more socks to provide energy and keep out the cold.
The summer sockivore prefers a hiking sock, but dwells in the top of the wardrobe, in the hall cupboard or the garage and is better known for eating half of a bikini, tent pegs and the pump you use to blow up lilos. It excretes half-used bottles of gungey old sun cream, with sand around the top.

I was referring to the in Sweden wide spread Sockivorus Vulgaris, a nasty little bugger known to spend most of your wage before the end of the month.
How to rid? Any tips on reppellent most welcome!
