| Stolen Honor: So, what's everybody's view towards "Stolen Honor: Wounds that Never Hear"? I'm just curious. I'm not so much against the "movie" and its proliferation. I'm interested in what everybody thinks about the Sinclair group pre-empting airspace for it. Is it a newsworthy event or is it a blatant political move? Should the government be allowed to intervene? Under what premise? Election regulations? Freedom of Speech?
This is the same group that forbade Koppel from reading the names of American troops killed in combat in Iraq because it was an "action appears to be motivated by a political agenda".
The issues I'm dealing with are: 1) It is produced by a member of the Bush admin, Carl Sherwood who is an executive at WVC3, a war-profiteering company 2) It is a one-sided documentary (just like Fahrenheit 9/11) 3) It is a pre-emption not a regularly scheduled program 4) Freedom of speech 5) Does it contain corraborated information or just the "opinions" of the Swift Boat Veterans for Lies group which has been shown to have conflicting memories with their own service records as well as those who served in Kerry's group.
I definitely think that this is a great argument against allowing media mogols to consolidate into monopolies.
Is this the Repubs "October Surprise" or is there something else on the horizon?

| Another example of the liberal media bias.

| The right to free speach also unfortunately give the right to lie. I'd look into slander if I were Kerry, though. However, I'm not going to say they should shut up because I dislike hypocracy. This is also not to say it shouldn't spark outrage and a retaliatory Kerry vote by people tired of being manipulated by the media |

I'm not sure that freedom of speech gives the right to lie. There is such a thing as libel and slander. I don't think that freedom of speech includes "fighting words", threats or implications of threats.
I'm still not convinced that the "Movie" shouldn't be allowed to run. I think it might be a good thing if it forces people to take a stand on (read as against from my perspective) media consolidation. It would be fitting if the Sinclair group took a financial loss from such an endeavor and were forced to sell some of their holdings. I heard they weren't exactly on solid financial ground and with moves like this, I think I can see why. I don't believe Pepsi, Coke, McDonald's, etc are going to be willing to shell out money to be tied to potential lawsuits stemming from this.

| Media and democracy are more tightly bonded than atoms in a molecule...
That's the way that it's always been in the USA ever since the first newspapers...
There's conservative media and liberal media...both of which are biased in my own opinion.

| I really wanted to see this movie, but I don't know what stations it is going to be on and at what time.
I think this is ok because Bush had to go through a lot about his record on the media and people saying it was false, etc. And Kerry has made it one of his main points that he was in Vietnam and that he "fought for his country". I want to see what other people say about his war record since he seems so fond of it. They should of been expecting this because that is really a lot of what he talks about and there are going to be people who think differently.

| Yes, media or the "Fourth Branch" of the government IS very important, particularly in this age of soundbites and "spinning". But a tightly controlled media rather it be by the government or a private group is a VERY dangerous thing indeed.

| Those who celebrated "Fahrenheit 911" ought to embrace this film, too.
If there are lies, a libel suit is warranted. |
