| Who Pays? Lessons, club dues, equipment, transportation, tournament fees--it adds up, doesn't it? Who comes up with the wherewithal for your fencing? How does your financial situation affect your fencing?

| Me.
I don't fence competitively much though, so tournament fees are infrequent and travel costs are quite low - petrol for my car.
My financial situation means I have the minimum amount of equipment (one of everything, and I still borrow a club mask!) although I try to buy good quality, if not flashy, items. I have also had to buy it a couple of pieces at a time rather than all in one go, and have asked for some things for birthday presents.

| i pay ALL of my fencing dues but it drains me financially so i get support from my parents in paying other stuff (bills, gas, etc..) so i guess they pay for it indirectly...i have generic "knock off" gear and i could very well take advantage of them and go all out uhlmann but i don't...can't abuse a priviledge...i'll wait 'till i'm out of school and i get my own real "job" to get the higher priced gear. |

| So uh... I'm at 21 years old, and my parents still pay for all my fencing. Since it's not an option, should I be ashamed? |

| Where's the "Parent: I pay all or most of my child's expenses: except for the vast amount of money siphioned directly from Inquartata's dues/fees and and lavished into my child's athlete performance grant awards" choice?

| My parents/grandparents pay for all my fencing expenses.
Except for my colored lames and primal scream therapy, which the USFA pays for directly out of Inquartata's entry fees.

| I pay for all my stuff. Back when I was younger my county used to give me a sports bursary (sponsorship), for being top 10 nationally. Unfortunately I'm too old for that now. I only new about the money being available because my mum was a PE teacher.

| Can I vote twice?
I'm over 21 and I pay all my own fencing dues and equipment costs.
I'm also sponsoring a 14 year old into the sport. And I pay all his fencing dues and equipment costs.
But then as he tells his friends "How many other sports are there that you get to chase your dad around with a sword?"
Next will be adding electric equipment for both of us $$$ |

| NOW the question is, "How much do you spend every year on fencing?" When people ask me this, I tell them I refuse to add it up. I don't want to know! |
