Stanford University in Palo Alto, CA, plays host to the 2002 Modern Pentathlon World Championships on July 15-21. Events include team and individual competitions in men's and women's events.

Those living near Stanford might want to sign up as volunteers, as that's certainly a cheaper way to watch the events. The abovementioned website has a link to register as volunteers.
I am asked to suggest that anyone wishing to volunteer be over the age of 17 (or look like that), because we don't want scorekeepers or timers to be intimidated by fencers or coaches under any circumstances.
Otherwise, come and watch the events. We all know, of all the fencing-related events, the modern pentathlons have the best looking athletes. (As much as I would like to root for the men's foilists.)
