Don't you think, if he WAS wired, he'd have done a better job?
Now, now, let's not kill the messenger. Mother Jones and presumably her writers and editors are no doubt, ah, partial; but the scientists they cite appear to be reputable.
My questions would be:
1) What expertise does an astrophysicist have in photographic analysis?
2) Why was he doing such analysis on his own? There's no indication that he was engaged by anyone else to do it. It makes one wonder at his motive.
As to your second rumination, there are a lot of places in a suit where relatively large objects can be concealed---think pistols. Why the back, of all places? Why not the ankle, the armhole, the waist, the crotch? ( Who'd be looking there? ) And why again after it was "detected" the first time?
