On the basis that people from France are French as well as Francais. I caught this morning morning’s minion, king-
dom of daylight’s dauphin, dapple-dawn-drawn Falcon, in his riding
Of the rolling level underneath him steady air, and striding
High there, how he rung upon the rein of a wimpling wing
In his ecstasy! then off, off forth on swing,
As a skate’s heel sweeps smooth on a bow-bend: the hurl and gliding
Rebuffed the big wind. My heart in hiding
Stirred for a bird,—the achieve of; the mastery of the thing! -

Of course Martians might call themselves something that is the etymological equivalent of Earth, which would confuse things. I caught this morning morning’s minion, king-

There are a lot of people who call themselves "the People". We just call them that in their own language, not in a transcription to our own... With infinite complacency men went to and fro over this globe about their little affairs, serene in their assurance of their empire over matter -

Array This is all riding on the question is there aliens? -

Array roughly yes, but you have to realise that Downunder is just trying to start ridiculous threads to see what Americans will discuss seriously. As a non-American aware of this, I am just pretending to care. I caught this morning morning’s minion, king-

Array "I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. And from this side only! The flight of a half-man, half-bird. Dinosaurs nuzzling their young in pastures where strip malls should be. Cookies on dowels. All those moment, lost in time. Gone, like eggs off a hooker's stomach. Time to die" -Phil Ken Sebben -

There are a lot of people who call themselves "the People". We just call them that in their own language, not in a transcription to our own... China - Chung Kuo/Zhong Guo = Middle Country
Japan - Nippon = Origin of Sun
Germany - Deutschland = Of the People
Greece - Hellas = land of light
Greenland - Kalaallit Nunaat = Land of Humans
India - Bharat = Was named after a King
Earth in different Languages:
Earth - English
Terra - Latin
Erde - German
Jorden - Swedish
Zeme - Czech
Maa - Finnish
Yer - Turkish
Diquiou - Mandarin
Chikyu - Japanese
Jeegoo - Korean
Anyone want to give a go at local dialects? Imagine getting the French to agree to the name of an alien race discovered by anyone speaking English! Mon dieu! "Since when does being a patriot in America mean shutting your mouth?"

Array Have to be politically correct. After all, if we start defining them by "human" or "martian", that's the first step to discrimination! What next? Martian rights? Does the government have any say on martian marriage? Should they be tax exempt? How many votes do they get?
Come come now...nobody's "martian"...nobody's "human"...we're all brothers here.
Now pass the bong. -

Array Look, J'onn J'onzz was from mars.
He reffered to himself as a martian.
More specificly he was known as "Martian Manhunter"
I rest my case. Fleche!! Fleche for fantasy.
