    Crossing the border

My club is going to a tournament in Canada this weekend. Normally crosisng the border isn't a big deal. This year I am not sure.

I was wodnering if anyone has had any recent experience with going across with groups of fencers. We will have about 30 fencers and two or three vans.

    Crash,
I have no experience recently with crossing the border, but from my most recent travel experience from East to West coast, I had to show photo ID-government issued, i.e., state license or passport.

I would make the rule that prior to departure that you have a check-off list of all fencers and make sure they either have a driver's license or passport. Do not take anyone to the border with one of those!

OPPS, I meant to say was only take people on this trip if they have proof of citizenship!!

Also, make sure you budget in sufficient time for either leaving or re-entering the US due to security checks.

Good luck and see you tomorrow night!

OPPs- what I meant to say is only take people on this trip if they can show you proof of citizenship.

I was stopped at the Canadian border last year driving up for the World Cup. Driver's licenses are *NOT* sufficent. You need proof that you are a US Citizen (if you are one, or your passport if you aren't). Proof consists of a passport or a birth certificate (original only I believe). Oh, and whatever you do, do *NOT* make comments about Canada practically being the 51st state.
