How come there's no equipment mail-order in Canada?

Having ordered quite a few times from Blue Gauntlet and the Fencing Post, as well as buying a crapload of stuff at various NAC's, I have to say that the exchange rate with the US right now blows chunks, and the shipping costs, esp. when customs decides to slap on taxes and the post office or courier slaps on a Clearance Fee at the border, it can be pretty depressing to order stuff from the US.

My question is, has anyone found a place you can order fencing equipment online but in Canada, so that Customs can keep their damn hands off it? I always get the US companies to mark the shipment as a gift, but, well, it doesn't always work, and I am feeling pretty antsy about scams like that post Sep.11.

Failing that, has anyone ordered direct from Germany. I did a few calculations and found that it may actually be marginally cheaper for me to do that than order from the US due to the exchange rate. The only thing I fear is the 2 week or 3 week shipping time.

If anyone does have suggestions for European orders (probably from Germany) please let me know. One thing I am most interested in right now are the new asymmetrical Adidas shoes.

Hi,

A couple people I know deal with a guy in our own province (BC). Here's the details:

The Herb Obst Agency - an Allstar/Uhlman dealer.
They have a catalog and their number is 250-769-1810.

Hope that helps.
