| Want Some Wood? Want some wood, cackle, cackle?
President Bush himself would have qualified as a "small business owner" under the Republican definition, based on his 2001 federal income tax returns. He reported $84 of business income from his part ownership of a timber-growing enterprise. However, 99.99% of Bush's total income came from other sources that year. (Bush also qualified as a "small business owner" in 2000 based on $314 of "business income," but not in 2002 and 2003 when he reported his timber income as "royalties" on a different tax schedule.) http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6198935/?GT1=5472 |

I'm sorry ma'am. I can't marry you. You have millions, I have mere hundreds of thousands, and a true heart. We cannot be married for you see I will be a coward if we do. Where oh where could I find an upper middle class woman I can love instead?
What a crock of your lunacy.
The real coward is the hunched over Bush who is clueless on every issue including his own financial position! |

Are we playing who's daddy is a superhero here? or are we expressing opinions about candidates vying for leadership of our nation. "... so in love with him..." What a response! |

| I saw somewhere that this was one of the tricks of the Republicans to push their "tax reform" through. Just as Bush wanted to reclassify MacDonald workers as manufacturing jobs, the Repubs took anyone who made a dollar from anything that wasn't income and made them small business owners.
From the Tax Policy Center: http://taxpolicycenter.org/publicati...cfm?PubID=8877 Quote: |
"A common claim in recent tax policy debates is that raising or cutting the highest income tax rates would disproportionately affect small businesses ... First, few small business owners face the highest marginal income tax rates. Less than 9 percent of returns with small business income are in tax brackets of 28 percent and above, less than 3 percent face rates of 33 percent [the rate on income between $175,000 and $312,000] and only 1.3 percent are in the top bracket [income above $312,000 per year]. Roughly 97 percent of small businesses would not be affected at all by increases in the top two tax rates..."
| Here is another interesting article from the National Small Business Association: http://www.nsbaadvocate.com/content/583.shtml
Basically it states that less than 1 in 25 small business owners would se an increase in taxes.

"Bush does own part interest in a tree-growing company, but the $84 came from an oil and gas company and we should have reported it as such.)"-From Fact Check.org
Slippery things, those facts...
Anyway, twisting the truth in the interest of getting elected is what successful politicians do second best ( right after raising money ). I daresay that none of us are surprised at this instance of Presidential exaggeration.
Say, doesn't this belong in the Politics ghetto? |

Slippery things, those facts... | The FactCheck.org site clarified the $84 from Timber income for 2001, but Mr. Bush still received royalty income for 2002 and 2003 and still today owns it!
The specifics really are irrelevant and the dollar value is infact small (thought it does still qualify him as a Small Business Owner.) The funny (sad) part of it was the dufus "Want some wood?" remark he made clearly having no idea at all that it was true! |

Kerry was over in Nam scewing around with the villagers while Bush was serving in The National Guard. Bush has been protecting us from terrorist attacks to the Homeland even back then. |

Yeah... whatever. We're not protected from attacks. Just you wait and see... they're taking away our civil liberties!

| Unfortunately, our freedom is gone. We have become pansies (this is a generalization) and due to that, we're slaves yet again. (another generalization)
