| has anyone else ever screwed up euro sizing? My order from duellist finally arrived. Stupid me, I put the US size on the jacket instead of the Euro size. I got the knickers and plastron correct.
Just not the jacket.

| I did the conversion wrong by like two sizes once, the lame was so goddam tight - I could fence in it but I ended up just donating the thing to the club and getting a better sized one. Luckily, the lame was just a crappy JL one, so I don't feel so bad. |

| Yep...did it when I ordered my first sabre lame.
Being a dealer has mage me better at it, tho -- at least in terms of the jacket or knickers. Men: add 12 to the inch measurement...women: add 4 |

| The funny thing is, Euro sizing is quite standard. This as opposed to the so called American Sizing that is a horribly randomization. I never do any "conversions." I just look at the sizing charts that European companies provide and determine my size from that. In fact, I don't even know my "American Size." I believe its something like: 44, but only if it's a lame from BG. If it's a jacket, it's 42, but I have to remember to subtract 2 if its a stretch jacket, otherwise I add six. Then if it's a stretch/cotton jacket, I have to call them to ask them. Of course, it is possible that I won't buy from BG, so I have to go to look up Post Sport sizing...or Triplette bag sizes...or blah blah etc.

| Is your wrong size a 42''?
If so, do you want to send it north

| I WISH.
I'm a 40 and what the tag says is that's a Euro 40 is a US 29. o_O
I can actually put the jacket on and zip it up, but the shoulders would bust if I moved my arms. |

| Ya, I did it my first time also. I sent it back, and the next one I got fit. It made me so paranoid that it took me forever to decide what size to get for my sabre lame. I measured myself, called the company I order from, and tried on other people's lames to make sure I was getting the right size. (Although the lame is still on it's way so I hope I don't jinx myself.) |

| I have troubles with the euro sizing too. I thought I'd converted to a US 14 in shoes, the 14 1/2 adistars I now have will be ok for the season though.

| Ha! Turns out I didn't screw up the sizing after all. At least, not through my own doing. I double checked the sizing on the Duellist site. I DID follow it. I have a 34 inch chest and ordered what their chart said--40. However, I have exceptionally broad shoulders (think swimmer's shoulders for a woman and those are mine, even though I never swim) and that's why my jacket barely fit.
Nice to know it wasn't my fault after all, but it means I still have to exchange the jacket and wait longer for the ability to wear it.
However, the knickers and plastron are great. I haven't gotten leg or arm bruises since I started using them (and I used to get a LOT of bruises on my sword arm's bicep). |

| glad to know it wasn't your fault (it makes you feel better when it isn't). I learned about Euro sizes before I ordered, thank goodness. My friend when I was in Wales told me she'd ordered the wrong size jacket, it was too big. I wanted the same thing, and since she said she had a 36, figured I'd see how a 36 fit. (I fit a US 36) It was TINY... I was aghast... thought I'd become some monsterous person. It turns out, like was said above, you add 4 to the US womens size. So my jacket is a 40.
I think I might have ordered a 36 though, had I not tried on that jacket before ordering. Oops. |
