Array Troubleshooting an epee body cord Lately when I fence, my light always comes on when I test against my opponent's bell guard. I've been told it's my body cord's earth wire acting up. Can anyone confirm this, and if so, please tell me how to fix it? Thanks in advance -

Array It is not your body cord, but it could be their body cord. What is happening is either their weapon is not grounded or your tip is not part of the circuit.
Let us take it step by step. First if this happens, disconnect their weapon and touch the C (farthest) with the tip depressed and if the light does not go on then their weapon is not grounded. Usually it is the little tab from the C line is supposed to be in solid contact with the bracket.
If the light came on, disconnect the body cord and depress the tip against the C line on the reel. If no light their body cord. Continue on with the floor cord and then at the machine.
If the light comes on all the way back, then it is your tip. What you need to do is with 2 test cords or 2 body cords in a pinch. Plug 1 cord to the machine (B Line), test box or meter and the other end to the B (middle) connector on the epee. Take the second line and plug it into the machine (A Line), test box or meter and the other end press down the tip. You should get a light or the meter should move. If not, you have a bad tip.
It could be the shaft that holds the travel spring is broken, corrosion on the travel spring, something on the outside of the tip.
One thing it is not is your body cord. Donald Hollis Clinton, Jr. DHCJr@juno.com
