In fact Mergs' statement about it being the reason for agriculture has more validity than he probably thinks. My World Civ book (and my World Civ Professor) says that while humans love grain for making things like bread and oatmeal, it was probably the fact that grain could be used to make beer that encouraged the agricultural revolution.

Well, I must admit that the piece on Beer and Politics was passed on to me by a friend. Thought it would be apropos to the discussion.

The legal age in the uk is 18. In scotland you can drijnk prior to then, so long as you are supervised by an adult.

I got this from Ted Li. At the 2000 Olympics came up with a new slogan for the commercials for Fosters. Fosters is Austrailian for Budweiser.

It's my understanding that in Ireland there is no legal age for drinking, it's just a matter of if you can afford it.

Well, sometimes, when a bee and an 'R' love eachother very very much, and have dated for a sufficient amount of time for their respective families to accept eachother as their own, have been accepted by the state laws of their respective province, whatever religiouis institution they follow, as well as their community in matrimony, and experience together the miracle of procreation... a beautiful baby beer is born.

that reminds me of a joke,

One day, Adolph Coors (of the Coors Brewing Company), August Bush IV (of Anheiser-Busch Brewing Company), and Patrick Guinness (of the Greatest Brewing Company in the WORLD) sat down together at a bar after the World Beer Convention.

Adolph Coors looked at the bartender and said, "I'll have a Coors, please." and the bartender set down a glass of Coors in front of him.

August Busch IV looked at the bartender and said "I'll have a Budweiser, please." and the bartender set down a glass of Bud in front of him.

Patrick Guinness looked at the bartender and said, "I'll have a Coca-Cola, please." and the bartender set down a glass in front of him.

Well, Adolph and August looked at Patrick and asked him, "Why the hell are you drinking Coke?"

To which Patrick replied, "If you boys aren't drinking beer, then I'm not gonna drink!"
