    #7 Blade?

No, of course I realize there are no #7 blades. However, as an avid fan of the Italian school, they traditionally used longer blades and I would love to play around with some. As far as I can tell from other posts here, a #5 is only about 35" and the subsequent lower numbered blades are approximate inches shorter (a #0 being about 5" shorter than a manufacturers #5, a #2 being 3" shorter, etc...) So, could a manufacturer make Italian blades at 37", brand them #5 and then have the #0 of these blades be about 32", etc....

That's an approximate...the #5 is actually specified to be 90 cm from the shoulder to the tip.

There is NO specified length for a #2...I could take an umarked blade that was 120 cm from the shoulder to the tip, stamp a "2" on it, and it's legally a #2 blade.

The maximum blade length is 90cm for foils and epees, and 88cm for sabres. (foil m.8, epee m.16, sabre m.23)
It could be shorter, but not longer.
