US WS in Championnats du Monde

With Mariel Zagunis and Sada Jacobson having byes from the pool as members of top sixteen, Emily Jacobson doing a respectable job in her pool, and Nicole Mustilli winning all her pool bouts, it looks as if all four are positioned to do well.

Cathy Leitch? Her name sounds familiar. Was she at the World Cup in Boston last spring? Nicole Mustilli has done a remarkable job of staying good--she has survived college and going into the armed forces (where they made her fence foil) without falling apart. She is one of the few who was fencing women's sabre when I started 6 years ago who is still in it and doing well.

I'm doing a little jig at the moment - Sandra Benad beat her opponent 15-3. When she walloped me in Boston, she only beat me 15-5. Ha! A victory, I say! Right! Sure!

    Wow! US chicks rule!!!!

I just saw that Emily Jacobsen was 7th and Nimes. Plus most of the rest made the 32. Is this the best showing by an American at a World's. I can't remember the last time an American( male or fe) made the 8, let alone medal.

Congrats to the ladies and their coaches.....
