| top censored news stories of 2003-2004 i read this a long time ago, but i re-dug it up to read a few things off of it. i would put it in just the WC but there are a lot of politically oriented articles on the list, so i feel it best goes here. http://www.projectcensored.org/publi...005/index.html |

| I'm confused. If they're news stories, and you can read them, then how are they censored?

| And, as usual, I am simply quite suspicious of any source that has a clear political agenda and presents only one side of an issue. |

| Most of those are not censored, they are just crap. I'm independent, but I've seen several stories on there reported as complete lies by a news source with real journalistic intergrity. (And of course it only attacks conservatives, no liberals would censor ANYTHING, right?) |

| Of course, there are tons of "good news" stories from Iraq and Afghanistan that aren't reported by most of the major news carriers.
And sometimes, you have to look well beyond the major sources for the truly shocking stories. For example, Tim Chavez, a columnist for the (Nashville) Tennessean, offered today this horrifying quote from Lt. Col. Jim Rose, a Tennessee Marine fighting in Iraq:
"The Najaf shrine--HUNDREDS of dead women and children were brought out after [Muqtada al] Sadr left,'' Rose wrote. ''They (Sadr's supporters) rounded them up during the battle and brought them in to be executed. Why? Because they anticipated the Americans would eventually enter the shrine and walk into a media ambush. We never went in. The people of Najaf love us right now because of that. They hate Sadr and want him dead. Have you heard that one yet (in the media)?"

| If you are going to moan about valid sources of information and bias, citing a member of the US military may not be the best way to make your point.
I would have thought that someone other than a single US marine might have spotted all these dead women and children. Why hasn't Foxnews been all over this, they haven't joined the left wing media conspiracy have they?
Face it there may be some good news, but in most cases all people do is complain about the lack of coverage of the good news - if it was there then there are a couple of media outlets that would be happy to report it (although maybe not CBS). |

| Actually, I would consider a lieutenant colonel a very reliable source, considering the amount of trouble lying would get him into. |
