And for pretty pathetic injuries, it makes me sad to see that and then have my grandpa get his hand blown off in WWII and then watch the news to see the "War Hero Kerry" sheesh.. | |

| i find it strange that people get pissed at kerry for getting decorated for his service.
people rarely critisize the military for handing out the decorations in the first place and their qualification requirements.

They are infinitly braver than myself, and both you and I owe them a very great deal. That you would disparage someone who volunteered to enter the service of this country sickens me. | Ok, first of all, getting drafted into the service is FAR from "volunteering". And I don't think you should get decorated with medals individually unless you really put forth a service, sure, vietnam was one of the worst wars, with korea coming close behind or right up there with it, I'm not saying people shouldn't, but to get multiple ones and then brag about them...it's like beating a dead horse. Personally I don't think any of the war related things have to do with the presidents, that was years past, people change.

I said that anyone who served in Vietnam is not a pussy. Everyone had the option of taking the other way out-moving to Canada, lying about your age, being a Concientious Objector, trying to disqualify yourself medically, joining the National Guard, etc. And I don't blame anyone who did.
But Kerry chose to actually GO to Vietnam, and he served exceptionally, winning 3 purple hearts. And I don't know what the Republicans are making up, but when you're in the Army, for the most part, it really doesn't matter who you are or who your family is. If you get a purple heart, you earned it. If you get three, you are a war hero. I'm not sure about the details of his service, but I do know that he was in a very dangerous position.
Your grandfather may be a war hero; I'm not doubting that. But that doesn't make Kerry a pussy. | |
