Has Anyone read...

I got this of the Leon Paul website:

quote:
Fencing (Bac Tau)
Fencing books don't come much more exhaustive and exhausting than this - 750 pages of text and drawings covering everything from anatomy to nutrition and psychology. This massive treatise is the most comprehensive work on the French system of fencing yet published in English. Written by a Cambodian who qualified as a fencing master in France and subsequently settled in Canada, it comes with glowing endorsements from the French fencing establishment.
There are chapters on exercises specifically for fencers, yearly training schedules, tournament preparation, mental gymnastics, strategy and tactics on and off the piste, fatigue management and fencing injuries. Each weapon section is divided into two parts: one covering technique and the other on the care and repair of equipment, plus detailed diagrams of points and their electric circuitry, body wires, spools, scoring apparatus and rewiring procedures.

It sounds pretty good and it looks like a 'Tome' I was wondering if anyone had read it and if they had, if they thought it was worth £60.

Don't know if this is the same book that I had gotten when he came to Dallas in the mid-80's, but the one I have is specific to foil and is OK. 60 pounds seems a bit steep, though. Don't remember it costing near that much. Why don't we all pitch in a few coins to buy a copy and pass it around?

For your copy of "The Care and Feeding of All Things Fencing", Second Edition go to The Armorer's Store, Fencing.net or www.homfencing.com

    Hey Mergs!

£60 does seem a bit steep til you see the sizre of the thing. Granted it's picture on the net but it has that... huge... look. Looking at the blurb it covers all aspects of Fencing. I'll be attending the British Championships and hopefully the LP stall will have a copy.

    Thanks Zelda!

I'm on form at the mo' [with no illness or injuries to worry me - unlike the last 12 months] so I'm hoping to perform well.

Were in Scotland are you going? If you're in Edinburgh feel free to stick you're head round the door at my local club (RCP - Royal Commonwealth Pool) and say "hi".

I have this set from when he first published it as a 4 volume set. It is very good. Incedently, it can be ordered online from his website which is something like maestro.com but I can't remember for sure. can be found pretty easliy with a search of his name off Google.
    I highly recomend the book.
