Italian Coaching Scheme

Hello All,

I've been fencing foil for the last 5 years and totally addicted to it. At some point in the future I would like to train to be a foil coach. I spent some time fencing in Rome, Italy and I was very impressed with their training methods.

Does anyone have any Information/ Contacts about schools in Italy that help you train to be a coach(using the Italian Technique). Thanks in advance for your help.

Isaac

I would probably start here:

http://www.maestridischerma.it/

This is the webpage for the organization that delivers the "maestro di scherma" degree for all fencing masters. It is recognized by the italian fencing federation.

Look up on this site to see if they have programs specifically targetted towards foreigners (I know they have one in France, that provides training and housing). Otherwise you might have to move there and find housing yourself.

The site veeco points to has a wealth of information--unfortunately it is all in Italian. It would be a huge service to the English-speaking fencing community if there was a project to collect documents from various national sites (the French site has a lot of good stuff too), translate it into English and make it available to the community.

Of course, it would be a huge undertaking....
