    Protective Clothing

For quite a while now I've been a fan of PBT's foil blades (BF) and body wires but my allegiance towards who is the best as far as clothing goes is non-existant. So I was wondering, if you had to swear by one brand and one brand only on protective clothing (800n FIE) who would it be, and why?

Leon Paul. Best fit and finish and attention to detail of all the makers I know of and they have a proper tailor in house so you can pop in for a little shopping, some custom measurements and a spot of tea and jafa cakes while he whips up a uniform with just the right fit. If you don't mind flying to London that is! Second pick would be Uhlmann.

Uhlmann will also tailor fit a uniform for you. That is, if you don't mind flying to Germany!

You could provide measurements to fechtsport langenkamp for a special fit Uhlmann uniform.

True, and truth be told I have more Uhlmann/Allstar (Uhlmann is also a lot cheaper... 15% as opposed to 30% for LP for custom work) kit than LP, but only because LP is so very expensive to get things custom cut. Still, there is something just right about the LP kit and if money were no object, all my kit would be LP. As it stands it is a mix of Allstar, Blue Guantlet, LP, Uhlmann.

I like santelli's stuff. Its solid, reliable, and cheap. Just dont get the foil knickers... transparency issues (ick).

ulhmann for me. i haven't really tried out the LP stuff, so I can't be a good judge between LP equipment and Ulhmann.

My whole outfit is Allstar....except for my plastron, it's Uhlmann
    just kiddin.
Anyhow, I guess, here in Germany you don't get much of a choice because Allstar/Uhlmann is just so cheap in comparison to other brands. Plus, I just love their Startex stuff. I'll stick with it.

Santelli doesn't make any 800N clothing. They do resell some Uhlmann stuff for much more than other places, so ultimately, Santelli would not be a good choice.

Santelli used to have its own FIE range, but discontinued it. Since I hold on to old catalogs for some reason, you can actually follow their FIE kit's addition and later withdrawal.

I'm a great fan of allstar so my kit is allstar all the way.
However my future jacket may be an Uhlmann one since their cut is a little wider than allstar.

I also like the Leon Paul kit a lot. As CvilleFencer said, their attention to details is great, only - I don't like the yellow threading! (I also pay lots of attention to details...)

Stylothek said he didn't have much choice and the choice for us here in Sweden is even less. There is no shop, so basically you have to try other peoples kit out and either order it yourself or go abroad to buy it.

This is where the price issue is brought up... Euros (€) are considerably cheaper to me than GBP (£) so I'm likely stick with either of the german brands!
    Fencing is my only PvP.

I currently have a mixture of items... However, since I now live in Germany, I will become the poster child for Uhlmann! I already have a contact there and have made a few trips (one more coming soon) to the factory. Very cool place!

Is it the Cartel Uniforms that have that wet/slick feeling to them? I have heard about a "slippery" FIE uniform like this but have never actually seen one so I thout it might be Cartel or Prieur since I have seen or used about everything else...

Ill second that, Leon Paul Sydney range outfits are simply way better than anything else out on the market. I have a full uhlman FIE Olympia outfit and its dog crap compared to my LP Sydney.

    Allstar

Uhlmann is a very close second.

Every uniform I've ever worn is invariably compared to Allstar/Uhlmann, and is usually found wanting in one particular area or another.

I used to try out different brands, but I just decided to save time and money and purchase the best.
