Are you sick of polls yet?

Not only do we have to deal with them every morning when we listen to political news, we get them here, too!

    Polls are awesome!

And if you don't like them, there's a little icon to the right of any post that says whether or not its a poll. You don't NEED to read every poll posted.

i was thinking about making this exact thread 20 minutes ago.

its not that the poll option is bad.
its the fact that when i click "new posts", i have to sift through 20 polls about random crap in the WC, most of them are there for no good reason. its getting old fast.

I was actually going to post this poll, too, but I figured it would backfire. And what defines "on topic" in the Water Cooler?

nothing really. its just the sheer volume of them. i counted earlier. there were 25 polls in a row with new posts in them. it gets annoying when i'm trying to read more regular posts, not "most charismatic brat" or "true or false" or a thread speculating on the weapon mary poppins would fence.

It's not a quote, I made it up...

I'm gonna change it, but I'll immortalize it in another thread.

I agree that there HAVE been alot of polls lately, but....I don't understand the big deal. I don't think it's all that hard to find a "good" post now. Just go into fencing discussion.

And I liked the true or false poll. (True-60% False-40%. Interesting stuff)

difference is that a lot of people use the "new posts" function to check the board. polls count as "new" if someone's voted on it, not posted in it. so if one person runs through and votes in every poll, a big block of like 30+ threads will show up with nothing new in it.

I think that that could be fixed pretty easily if you asked. I do kind of agree; alot of these polls died a long time ago, but people keep voting. Maybe a "comments and suggestions" thread is required.

There is no "on topic" for a water cooler. That's what makes it worth the trip!

Worst is when the polls arent thought out well enough to even measure anything. There has to be a point to get something out of a poll.

Perhaps we need a poll to see how many are sick of polls about polls?
