| Senior Member | Considering a move to New York for fencing Hello, I'm a Connecticut resident considering moving to New York for a few years and doing some real serious competitive training. By serious and competitive I would be fencing as much as possible and nationally competing as well. However, lacking much money to get a move started I was wondering if anyone has an idea how I could start in finding a low priced apartment or perhaps even a fencing roomate to take me in for at least a year? Any help would be of great appreciation to me! and oh yes, is it easy for an 18 year old to find a part time job in the city? |

| Senior Member | Well- apartments are expensive in Manhattan- and part time work is hard for us 18ish folk... but epee in the city is strong, and fencing epee can be pretty cheap. I know the NYAC gives gate-passes for free fencing there, if you are proficent enough of a fencer. Also- Brooklyn fencing has a growing, strong epee program, where we have some strong coaching and strong fencing going on. PM me for more info about fencing in the city.
