| Are there not enough real social outlets lying about for you to pick up? How about going to church? Attending a meeting? Playing bridge at the local club? Fencing? Etc.?
Why bother with this pseudo-social outlet? Is there some hot chick there you want to meet?

| seriously, it can never be as good as actually meeting people in person. Nothing can beat that. If you really want to meet more people you really should go to a club or something: if you don't find any friends there, try a different one. There's always people that'll like you, so don't be scared Do you have a Social Phobia/problem? we're here to help!

| Sorry, I already got an invite(by a fencing.net member). Anyway, I don't think it's supposed to be a substitute for real social interaction. It's just another online place where you can discuss any topic or trade links and stuff.
Anyway, I had heard it was a good place to get some technical help on certain topics. That's all.
Thanks for the replies.

| This reminds me of Friendster. Man, their are too many of these groups out there. And what's the purpose for being invite only? At least with Friendster and the others you can sign up on your own. |

| the point of only inviting people to join is that there are no random people, like spammers, or weird people who lie about their identity. or at least, very very few. orkut is in beta, but it has a pending lawsuit against it, long story. |
