Array Avatars One new thing on the board is the use of avatars, or personal icons, for helping develop your online identity.
As you may notice, I keep changing mine around. I'm still deciding what I want mine to be.
You can view available avatars and choose yours under your profile. Go to "my profile" above (just like logging in to get your private messages) and go to "Update Profile". There will be a link to choosing an avatar and you can cycle through the available ones.
Cheers,

Array Hmmm. . . another thing on which to expend time I should be using less productively.

Array Wow... can't say I like the auto-resizing. That feature makes my animated avatars either too big or just ugly.

Array OK, here's mine. BTW, for those who may be (or not as the case may be) I am now working at the Pentagon for the next year. I have been mobilized for OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM, and yes I have all my gear with me and have found a club to fence with. -

Array Glad to hear that, Mergs. Your buddy's in the Houston area already miss you. Good luck! ... without remorse for the past, confident in the present, and full of hope for the future, [d'artagnan] went to bed and slept the sleep of the brave.

Array I've noticed that a few people have avators that do not look like ones that were in the list. Can we make our own? ... without remorse for the past, confident in the present, and full of hope for the future, [d'artagnan] went to bed and slept the sleep of the brave.

Array Testing

I assume so, D'art.
Go to your profile, to where you change your avatar, and look at the bottom where it says "Custom URL".
From there if you have webspace you can just upload any picture you want, and link it, or link to an existing picture. We must walk consciously only part way toward our goal, and then leap in the dark to our success.

Array No animated avatars please. Just too annoying for my tastes.
As to size. All avatars must be 48x48. Either .jpg or .gif.
I'll be coming up with guidelines for custom avatars soon. ;-) I'll also get you a way to send over your custom avatars to be hosted on this site rather than called from another site.

Array Well, I'll give it a go. I assumed from looking at the custom url that that wasa the case.
However, if anyone has looked at my profile, they will notice that where my picture should be, there is an X. I put a true url that only has my picture in that box and it doesn't work, although I've checked and the picture is there. ... without remorse for the past, confident in the present, and full of hope for the future, [d'artagnan] went to bed and slept the sleep of the brave.
