| Light Epees Anyones know whats the lightest epee out there. My coach wants my to use chinese blade because there light and felxible, but I dont want to get attached to it for obvious reason. It would be nice if there was a FIE version of it .
Thanks

| lps are light, some batches of BF blues are the lightest blades i've felt, and most of the regular non-maraging blades are fairly light.
for the most part, though, its less about how light it is and more about the balance of the weapon. |

| What noodle says is true. Personally, I've noticed it is much better fencing with a balanced epee, canted just right, then a very light one. But then again this is another personal preference thing where everyone has different takes on what is a better type of weapon. |

But yeah, my main weapon is an FIE LP blade. http://www.leonpaul.com/acatalog/Sho...c_Epees_2.html Quote: |

| You might think about getting a superlight bellguard. That can take quite a bit of weight off of an epee.

| Another vote from me for the LP non-FIE blades. The standard ones last so long that I have never seen the need to get the FIE version. They also do not rust any more than an FIE blade in my experiance, which is nice since you live in Baltimore. I would sort of ignore your coach on the "By chinese epee blades" bit. I think he might be just a little biased in that regard! Besides, all the Chinese blades I have ever used are crap.
If you get an LP blade, an ultralight bellguard and one of the LP plastic or carbon fiber grips you will have the lightest blade around.

| I keep hearing about those things! I have never had much of a problem with my bells getting trashed, even the cheap BG ones, but I would like to try out one of the Vniti ones since I love their Foils so much, I am hoping the rest of their stuff is just as durable. Noodle, If you could point me towards a vendor that would be great!

| blade has them, i believe
bg "has" them, but "has" them in small quantities and for cheap, so if you're not the right person, they don't "have" them. |

unless you are doing A grades on a regular basis, hehe.
Yeah, i but use the FIE blades, lightweight guards, sockets and pommel/post with the carbon fibre handle. |

| LP maraging blades are very light. I use them almost exclusively. However it's also important to get the 'feel' right. BF blades are heavier but not significantly so; it's worth checking out ultra light guards as well. My favoured configuration is: ultra light guard, LP blade and tip, allstar connector and grip. |

| Bah! Light epees aren't nearly as cool as lightsabres. Now if only I could find someone to teach me how to build one of those bad boys....

| Do some footwork (or just stay in your en garde position, it's up to you) with your mask hanging off the forte of your blade. When your arm starts to feel as though it's going to fall off, remove the mask. Your blade will feel featherlight |

| Uhlmann has the titanium guard as well....
No Vat Vat
125012 epee guard, alloy titanium 9.48 11.00
Prices are in euros...
I have seen these guards and they are light and strong. I still have to agree with others above, a well balanced weapon is the key. |
