| Whom do you fence for? What clubs do you fence for/at, and why?

| There really aren't that many clubs to choose from where I live. Ie. there's ony one - Göteborg Fencing Club.
But it's a great club. The salle is fantastic, our Maître d'Armes is great (ex-Ukrainian national coach Sergei Paramanov) and with some of the top swedish fencers it's definitely one of the best clubs here in Sweden!

| I used to fence in Sinzig with coaches from Koblenz (internationally known through Peter Joppich) and also trained in Koblenz for a while. Next week I'm changing to the Olympic Fencing Club Bonn (OFC BONN).

| I don't have a club yet. I want one, but I have two clubs under my belt. (I move too much)

We've been in existence for about a month and a half. Our ages range from 6 years old to 52 years old. Some of us have fenced before but most are brand new. Why do I fence there? I've waited almost 30 years to find a place to fence! I've been moving my foils and mask from college around all these years and now I can brush off the rust and use them again!

| I'm most definitely considering La Salle Fencing Club in (Morgan Burke in East Vancouver), it's the closest one.
I used to fence for Vernon Fencing Club (Brendan Robertson in Vernon) and for Vanguard Fencing Club (Jerzy Kajrenius in Vancouver)

| I fence for the Middle Tennessee State University fencing club in name...but still consider myself an Ole Miss fencer mainly because that's where I was introduced to fencing, got my base, and developed my technique.

I don't know Peter Vanky in person, but I'm sure he'll try to qualify for next Olympics aswell as he did for this years.
Alas, he was not amongst the top eight... There are too many good european fencers, but it's a pleasant problem I guess!

| Charlottesville Fencing Alliance (CFA) and Richmond Fencing Club RFC. I mainly do coaching and staff work at CFA and most of my training and sparing at RFC. I really wish the USFA would let you claim different clubs for different weapons!

| Interesting that several other posters seem to have had the same response as I did to the title of this thread--Whom Do You Fence For?--as being a philosophical type inquiry. I almost expected a poll. Whom do you fence for--yourself? Your parents? Your coach?
Props for the correct use of "whom".
I fence mostly for myself, and my fencing club is University of California, Irvine.
