| The replies to this post remind me of a scene in one of Adam Sandler's movies where he is in the bathtub trying to determine which he should use: shampoo or conditioner Quote: |

| Board Game Analysis:
If you have ever thought a game of chess was exciting, épée is probably for you.
If you appreciate the many different reactions to opponents' moves, and their reactions to your moves, in a game such as Monopoly, foil is for you.
If you don't play board games, Sabre is for you.
(I'm épée and foil) |

| I'm a sabreur, and I play board games on occasion...
only, if I loose, I smack people on the head with the board....

| Yup, if you play board games but end up attacking everyone else with the board then Sabre is going to be the weapon for you.

Of course when we fight other sports for popularity we all know that foil will lead the charge.

Shut me up because ... well you know how.
Furthered the cause of foil because it just proves that foilists are the bravest and most outgoing fencers, that means that a foilist is the kind of person you want to meet.
That and if foil is the most commonly fenced weapon then to be the best is far harder than in say ... saber!

| Nah. That's like saying it's harder to excel at sleeping than at chess, because more people do the former than the latter! |

No seriously though if 10 people fence epee at a comp and 20 fence saber then each epeeist obviously (theoretically) stands a 1 in 10 chance of winning where as each sabreur has a 1 in 20 chance of winning. It stands to reason then that if 30 foilists compete once again its harder to win - meaning the winning foilist had to overcome far more opponents and subsequintly be put through more bouts and more chances to lose. So to come out on top would've been harder.

No offense, but that's dumber than dirt.
You send your most highly skilled, least expendable troops in first. Your SEALs, Force Recon, SAS, what have you. They are most likely to get the job done with the fewest friendly casualties.
Then, when they have disrupted the enemy's supply and communication lines and otherwise paved the way, you send in your main body of troops to occupy real estate. These are the well-skilled combat and support troops.
Only after the real estate is occupied do you send in the most expendable troops, if at all.
