Yeah i dont know what is worse- that or 8 year olds with swords????
NOT FUN!!! I have to coach them and just for fun our head coach lets them have a half minute bout against me. Its like 8 kids onto me it sucks. They need some serious horse traquilisers to slow them down.

Whats the big deal about kids and sex anyways? I know a lot of kids these day have sex really early. Like even before they reach 10.

Well... there SHOULD be some kind of deal anyway... children are really young and they need to understand what sex is. They have to develop an opinion about sex and understand the ramifications of the act. Of course, we have to be more liberated and open-minded when it comes to sex, as our society changes, but there has to be some sort of limit. It's not like children younger than 10 should go around and be all "Sex and the City" They have to have some sort of innocence and a childhood.

Ok. This is gonna mess up a lot of people.

My daughter is 13 and she started having sex last year when she was 12. When I found out I was shocked. I literally couldn't stop shaking. I was as a complete loss as to how to handle this and there really wasn't anyone I felt safe to talk to about this. My wife and I were in anguish and tears over this. Just approaching my daughter about this subject was unbelievably uncomfortable. As fkd up as it sounds, we even though about disowning her.

I don't want to get into details here Ok? We decided to take her to family counseling. the whole experience is as rough as hell and we are still doing counseling. Anyways. the PHD thought that is would be best to provide her with sexual education and condoms.

It's really impossible to control what our kids do. The best you can do is love them and protect them.

My sister is a cafeteria engineer for the Los Angeles County School District. She works at a middle middle school. She tells me that school security catch kids having oral and genital sex in school all the time.

Do what you can to keep your kids straight but if it has happened then do what you can to keep them safe.

"Cafeteria engineer"?? Geez. That is tantamount to calling Subway sandwich makers: "sandwich artists".

RL, if your story is true, I think your final mentality on the subject is fine. I was just recently a teenager, and I still know how they think. Kids will experiment...it just happens. When they start, they won't stop anytime soon. Keep in mind that we have all gone through 3987597593429875 (maybe a bit less) years of evolution and all this time made sure that present day human bodies will enjoy sexual acts. It is like crack, so I guess once you get addicted, the best you can do is use a clean needle each time.... I do find that 12 years old is a bit young though. I myself didn't start having "evil" thoughts until I was about 13 or 14, and then it took me a few years to start developing attractions to girls my age.

Personally, I think that if you really want your kid to wait till it is 20 or so before mating, raise them to be antisocial and fearful of the opposite sex. Then during college they will begin to realize that they have been stupid all these years and begin to change. In the end, they will electronically ask fencers about how to get a girlfriend, and great records will be set.

    This is a tough subject.

First, physically children are reaching puberty at a MUCH earlier age, mentally is a different question. There are sex hormones, they affect the way we think, feel and act. Add to it the whole "Sex is filthy" spiel of the religious zealots with the "everybody is having sex right now" precedence of the entertainment industry and you get a bunch of muddled little heads...

Second, our society, and MANY others have a dedicated prurient interest; as others have said, part of this is ingrained into our DNA. The rise of visual media has only exacerbated this natural tendency and heaped a big load of exploitation onto it. I guess we could call this the Baywatch Effect, but that would probably be a misnomer.

Third, if you think this is a modern day occurrence or a strictly regional phenom, you need to take a few sociology and anthropology classes. Humans have always had a fascination with sex, and not just for its baby producing benefits. The sheer amount of erotic imagery that survives is a good indicator of the even greatere amount that was most likely produced by any era. The Japanese have annual Phallic festivals, Indians have arranged marriages to twelve year olds, it's not a regional or cultural thing. Doesn't anybody remember why "Sweet 16" here in the U.S. is so sweet, if you're thinking "time for child-bearing" you get the special prize.

Does this mean that we should let our kids experiment with sex at increasingly earlier ages? Definitely not. Telling your kid that "sex is disgusting" and that they will go to hell if they have premarital sex has proven to be an abyssmal failure though. I don't have a problem with abstinance education, but it DOES NOT WORK by itself. The best thing you can do is to teach them self-respect and keep them busy with more productive activities. Take a look at what happens to strict Muslims when they leave the aegis of their strict "anti-sex" society. The way is useless if you don't have the will.

I think we spend too much time on teaching kids WHY they should say "no" but don't spend enough time making sure they have the ability to say no. This is where self-confidence and a healthy dose of reality are very helpful.

You could always use the "if other kids were jumping of cliffs..." argument...

There is no evidence of that. In fact the idea that people should wait till their mid-late teens is a relatively modern concept. There wasn't even a true concept of childhood until the* victorians created it. As you later mention as soon as puberty hits then the biological clock is ticking [so to speak]. Puberty arrives whenever it arrives.

I agree with the rest of your post 100%. Teach kids to respect themselves. Arm them with the facts. "just Say No" campaigns do not work.

RL, you have my sympathy. Raising kids isn't easy but I'm sure you know that. There is no easy answer to these sorts of questions.

*Not so sure about the US but I think that this concept hit America round about the same time.

Am I the only one thinking that RL lifted this story off another website like his 'Vietnam War Vet' speech, and 'his' photo?

The whole story sounds fake coming from RL, the tone and diction sounds like it came from a magazine article.

So it's only natural that all these women are flocking to RL's club just look for a date.

This large, sexy, black, vietnam vet, who prefers caucasian and asian women over black women but somehow married one nevertheless, now in his 50's or 60's and a is father of a daughter, claims to know A LOT of kids who have sex really early these days.

So he's just found out his twelve year old has had sex. And what does he do? Like any real parent would, go on a fencing messageboard and tell everybody, with a subject title of "New Female Fencers".
