The winner? Uh....someone other than Ed.

| The English forum is stating that Richard Cohen won his age group in World Veteran's Saber.

| Is that 50 or 60+?
I think Bill Hall has a very good chance to repeat at least for a medal in vet 60. I'd been fencing with him a few weeks prior to his leaving and he'd been fencing better than I had ever seen, moving decisively, a riposte you can't escape from.
I hope he does really well at least.

| I don't know Mr. Cohen's age, but I believe that it was the vet 50 saber. However, I'll stress that none of this information is confirmed. I'm waiting to hear from Wang Yung, one of the 50-Vets, by email.

| The USFA website appears to be down. Perhaps that's a sign it's being updated with the results? |

| Not a website expert but I suspect they can be updated without 'taking them down'.
Interesting story though, Mariel gets gold in Athens and Ed gets gold in the vets, if he can/did. |

When it fails on a weekend or a holiday, is is down until the next workday. I think the USFA gets the "service" gratis, and they get exactly what they pay for.
Funny thing is that when something about the olympics needed posting, it happened within minutes. Wonder why that is. Nary a word on vet worlds, took 'em about a month to post the new domestic points list. |

| Well, it shows you where the USFA's priorities are. Another example: after the Div I Nationals, the new point standings were up on the website within a few days. After Nationals for "the rest of us", how long did it take them? Three weeks? A month? |

| I tried checking the AUT Fencing Federation website but couldn't find anything there either. No result list as yet...
A friend of mine was there (in Krems) and I wanted to check results.

So perhaps that's why they didn't update the point standings? The only points given at Nationals "for the rest of us" are Junior, Cadet and Vet points (which are used to qualify for competitions which will happen the next season). Div1 points however had to be calculated right away because the Olympics where happening very soon after the competition, and the results of Div1 Nationals had a direct impact on who was going to qualify for them.

Not even the courtesy of recognizing our season long efforts by showing a final points list in a timely fashion. Is it too much to ask to have someone do 20 minutes of work with a spreadsheet? Before anyone suggests it is more than 20 minutes, forget it. It isn't. I have no doubt AskFRED could handle this feature with the touch of a button. |
