| Certainly closer together than the April NAC and the Olympics. Then again in both cases the fencers in question knew immediately whether or not they had made the team. Generally before the competitions had been completed.

| A season runs from September to July, so the event that selected the athletes for the VWC was at the end of last season, and the VWC were at the beginning of this season.
As for the 4 months, I was under the (false) impression that SN happened in early June. I must have had my wires crossed when I made that remark.

The US won four medals
Ed Korfanty, Silver, MS 50-59, lost to Richard Cohen, GBR
Jann Ream, Bronze, WE 50-59
Diane Kallus, Bronze, WE 50-59
Bill Hall, Bronze, MS 60 +
| I'll have to down a celebratory martini for Jann!

| Congratulations to all the medalists at the VWC. In fact, congratulations to everybody who competed. I think it's great that there is international competition for us elders, even though it might be deemed second-class by certain governing bodies.
Every time a crafty geezer defeats a kid through experience, tactics, distance and timing, we all accrue more respect from the young rascals.
I believe it's less likely to happen in other sports. Another good thing about fencing...old age and treachery, etc.

| Woot. Bill hall now has a gold, a silver and a bronze.
Let's hope next year he just cycles back and goes gold again.

The points took a little longer. I suspect that's because there were far more events to process, although I'd imagine they would have a program to generate the results.
Results and point standings for the Bay Cup takes about 20 seconds to generate (although the data entry may take about 5-10 minutes).
