| I know it's kinda dead.. but on StM FIE.
Got mine november last year, been using at least 3 times a week. Still straight as a die...This is where the story begins.
2 weeks ago it developed a small kink in the top 1/10th of the blade or so. That kink has gone. Today the kink was there, and the foil took a reasonably bad upwards bender hit. It bent up, I flexed it on my shoe, it went straight after about 5.
And for about 2 months prior to all this, it had a slight downward curve in the blade.
Now its straight as the day I got it...awesome. Lasting longer than I expected!

| well i've had mine for over 3 years. for the last 2 months or so i've been fencing heavily with it so was getting upward bends and kinks every week...but i managed to bend it back with no prob. i heard that stm will become flexible after use but mine is still really stiff.

| I got one very sturdy russian FIE-blade ca 1996, the rest is Allstar non FIE. The FIE blade only comes out on the local tournaments on my club! |

| I use Reynold's Wrap. It's durable yet pliable.

| I'm changing my vote from Prieur to Vniti. Prieurs suck. I'd totally spend the extra money for a Vniti any day. |

| I haven't invested in FIE blades yet. For non-FIE I like the "Various European Forges" blades that you can get from American Fencers Supply. We call them "Fleching Russian" blades although I don't know which forge they come from.

| Fatfencer's choice!!! Fatfencer uses lots of different blades depending on the fencer. and since blades vary tremendously within each batch, blah blah, etc.
Still I mainly use:
BF Whites and Blues: I will pick thru most of what Summer Nationals has to offer to find 4-10 or so that are as light as the cheapy blades but are stiff as all get out. Then I slowly 'educate' the blades to bend in the proper way. This also helps when it comes time to balance them via canting. These do tend to be heavy. If I'm fencing a stronger, more capable fencer I will use the cheap blades as it doesn't fatigue my hand while doing complex parries and attacks.
I generally use ultra light extra small bellguards and shaved down Absolute Uhlmann visconti small copies. Actually they are better!! I tend to shave them at nose so as to get more finger control. Also I place file grooves along the top so the thumb get all the grip it needs. Finally i use a grinder to enlarge the groove where the pinky finger goes so that my hand doesnt feel scrunched.
I use Sport 7 tips/barrels, etc. exclusively as they are the best I've found and have, since I've started using them, never had a weapon fail on strip.
I use LP's bayonet as its the best I've seen. I've been told Negrini/Carminari is the best system but I've not seen it. LP wires and sockets have not failed me and with reasonable maintenance, probably never will. Chances are though I will replace 11 of them at Nationals.
I really love Vniti blades as i think they are lighter than STM but are as durable, But like the Lp's GBsky Pro its very heavy compared to BF. Occasionally I find a very light and stiff Vniti and I buy it.
I just like light and stiff blades of any make. PS is absolute ****, though.

It is also sometimes referred to as "Vostok" - AFAIK, the two companies merged a while ago. AMS sells a lot of their blades.
