| Wanna stand out in the middle of the crowd? On the topic of colors, albeit a little different about uniforms, I don't think that there is a requirement about the color of your shoes. Here's an area were everyone should be able to express their creativity... Just for that, you can get yourself some custom made 'fencing' shoes:

I went to this site and created my fencing shoes, with the colors of my club. I can't wait to get them!

| Veeco, that site is waaaay cool. You'll have to fill us in on how they come out. I can't see how they can smack up custom shoes for what you can easily drop on a pair of off-the-shelf Nike. |

| Their shoes look neat but are a bit stiff, also don't go by their sizing instructions, use whatever size you usually get. (Why is it whenever I follow instructions on something I get 10 sizes too big?) |

For fencing shoes I'd look at the "scab" or "deviant" models.

| I have been wearing Customatix skate shoes since October and I would highly recommend against using them for fencing. Don't get me wrong, they're an excellent shoe for day-to-day use and the soles are very rubbery, but after wearing them to one school practice I had blisters all over my feet. Not to mention that all that lunging wore away the rubber (more grip = faster wear&tear) and my shoes now squeak rather loudly because of the flat spots on the bottom.
I'm actually about to get a new pair because mine have finally given out, and after visiting all the shoe stores around here I realized how incredibly limited their selection is. So keep that in mind- you'll get spoiled and never be able to go back to regular old Nikes!
