Array That bout was extremely boring, by the way. You didn't miss much. -

Array I watched many of the bouts via the Italian station. The feed was great. Unfortunetly I just moved to Germany and only have AFN (Armed Forces Network) right now. I should have invested and bought a German sat and then I could have watched most of the bouts. -
Hi!
Eurosport and Sw. Tv footage, including MS.Ind semis and medal bouts, will soon go from me to Eric Dew.
Have a nice time!

Array Oh yes please some one has to do something!!! All i saw of fencing was about 2 seconds of 2 sabreurs charging at each other and then screaming while the news reporter said they had no idea what a whole lot of sports were about! So frustrating considering we had someone in the fencing (first one for 12 years) and there was a lot of publicity about it (well a lot for fencing standards). "The pen may be mightier than the sword - except for in a duel."
"I had to get up in the morning at 10 o'clock at night 1/2 an hour before i had to go to bed, drink a cup of sulfuric acid, work 29 hours a day down down mill unpaid and have to pay for permission to come to work and when we came home our dad and our mum would kill us and dance around on our grave singing hallelujah!" -

Array I have tons of computer footage, but it'll have to wait several weeks until my laptop gets back for repairs.

Array So what's the word on the footage? I'm tired of watching last years... "Since when does being a patriot in America mean shutting your mouth?"

Array Laptop's still in California. Keyboard gave out, all my footage is there.
Does anybody have individual MF? I know I don't have any of that.

Array Keep yer fingers crossed! Originally Posted by esskreemr So what's the word on the footage? I'm tired of watching last years... From a very recent USFA newsletter: NBC broadcast an unprecedented amount of fencing competition, including unscheduled additions of the men's foil finals and bronze medal to evening coverage. At this time, we are trying to get NBC to release a fencing highlights DVD. We will not know the final availability until mid-September. (Emphasis added.)
Lamentably, I no longer have the full, original email from the USFA but the bulk of it, including an email address to 'thank NBC for their coverage' can be read here. -

Array I have 7 or 12 segments from the Italian feed converted into a format I can put on DVD, still don't know if it's MPEG or MP2. I know either will work but I only have 7 of the 12 converted.
Major thanks to those who let me either FTP to their site or mailed me the CD's. I am now trying to get all of these on DVD's. Once I have these on DVD's, or at least the format with menus and some sort of music, I am not sure if I will be thrown in Jail for 'selling' them to anyone. Anyone have a clue on that one?
Anyway, I will let you know when I get all 12 segments converted into and have DVD's for them.
As for the NBC/Bravo stuff, my opinion only here, I thought it was worhtless. Suzy did what she could and did well with what she had to work with but the other guy was a complete idiot and the way some of the footage got butchered was revolting. Not worth getting on DVD. The Italians seem to have it down for putting fencing on TV. If anyone is serious about putting fencing on TV they should model after what they did.
Anyway, I am probably not the one people are talking about but I am trying. -

Array I have upconverted the original transmission into NTSC format for DVD/TV viewing. It is not like the 2002 Men's Epee DVD. I haven't finished the 10 events, and I am grouping them by weapon. -

Array Wow how lucky. Some people get to FTP to sites and download clips for free whereas others are forced to buy. "That's hot." - Paris Hilton -

Array The FTP file is not suitable for TV viewing. My DVDs are. -

Array I would perfer that I watch the files on my computer. There is more control that way. JEC, I don't want you to think I'm attacking you personally or anything. Your DVDs involve footage that you took yourself and editing that you've done yourself. You do work and you deserve to get paid for your DVDs. However, the Olympics RAI feed clips are completely different. It was something that was available to everyone provided you had broadband. I myself was in Thailand (without broadband) during most of the Olympics, so I didn't get to watch much. I traveled back to the US and lost another two days. Basically I was in a bad situation. Some people ended up with copies of the matches and decided to distribute them, which I think is a great idea. Then everyone just seemed to stop caring about the time when I started asking. It was as if they saw my cries for Olympic fencing footage and they thought to themselves, "Hahah, that fool didn't get the feeds. I have a copy, but I'll sell it to him for a nice profit." First of all, I highly doubt it is legal to sell the RAI feed. Secondly, I'm not buying anything. "That's hot." - Paris Hilton Similar Threads -
