| Thanks, guys! Bill Hall looked as if he were about six feet above the ground last time I saw him.
I was so proud of all the women's sabre fencers who showed up and "demonstrated" - it was a good showing and I was really happy there were more than a few over-50 competitors, even two of us in the top four, and quite a few from Great Britain.
The US did really well this year, especially in sabre. |

| Congrats Delia, I thought your name was familliar. I was up at the table running the computers with my wife and Debbie Walker. Your name came back on the DE slip and it stuck with me for some reason. Congrats on the Memorial Trophy as well.
You can PM me this answer but what did you think of the break after 5 touches? (For those that do not know DE bouts for Vets are to 10, not 15) From my perspective I thought it broke the flow of the bout. I believe that Marvin would have won the Men's event if there were no break.

kro | I love it. I will admit that I lost my DE in the Peabody World Cup because of the 8-touch break when my opponent had her coach there, but I also might have lost it because I was out of condition after a bad year coping with injuries.
I have never been able to take much coaching during a sabre bout--it makes me crazy trying to process outside input. InTampa, my coach was there and could come tell me to straighten the heck up at the break. (I'm afraid the final bout, if you saw it, was not indicative of either my or Jeanette's abilities--I think we were both incredibly tense in front of that standing-room international crowd. I know I was.)
Marvin Fine is a very smart fencer, and you may be right, but Bill was having a really good day. Overall, I don't think it's going to make a big difference. |

Tim | It was funny, when I turned 50, I dropped off the 40-49 list, stayed at the top of the 40+ list, and dropped to sixth on the 50-59 list because I hadn't been eligible to compete in the 50+ national championships that year. I'm looking forward to having Janet with the grownups! |

| If I remember correctly, Marvin was up 5-1 at the break and after it apopeared to me that he lost his momentum.
I do not remember if you were up at the break or not. You were on the left...I think you were up then after the break, Jeannette staged a comeback. Might have been the other way around though.
I could tell that both of you were nervous. There were a few form breaks on both sides. It must have been hot in there.
Overall I think it the event was recieved well by all.

| The captain of each team was given a book of the full results. Everything from initial seedings to pool results and final results. I do not know if it is going to be put on a website. The book ended up being over 125 pages. www.fie.ch might put something up but it won't be for a while.

| the board looks great. a bit confusing at first, but i got the hang of it. okay, i've just read the posts, i'm getting antsy and jealous, i have to fence very soon. the over 50 crowd awaits! i'm still strong, possibly stonger, i lost about 10 pounds, just running. i have made a decision, going back to the mainland for fencing. get ready. i hope to meet with the d'artagan over in texas. |

| The results of Veteran Worlds are up on the USFA website www.usfencing.org . They titled the women's sabre demo a 50-and-over when it was a 40-and over, but I sent them an e-mail and guess they'll correct it. |
